Gemma is working with Melanie Wilson on a film and performance project exploring female empowerment in Tunisia and the UK. The work will be developed in Tunis, where both artists will work with Tunisian women to explore how Shakespeare can be used as a provocation to explore the question of what it is to be a woman.

An Evening with Primrose

Tate Thought Workshops come to a close
Since July 2013 i have been participating in a Tate Live initiative that brings together people from a range of disciplines to discuss the idea of change. The project reaches completion this weekend with a public panel discussion chaired by John McGrath (Artistic Director, National Theatre of Wales) including panelists Shami Chakrabarti and Ben Okri. On Sunday we will have our closing workshop led by Quarantine.

Selection for Tate Thought Workshops
Gemma has been selected to be one of the 30 participants in the most recent incarnation of the BMW Live: Tate Thought Workshops. The project will bring the participants together to explore the theme of change through ideas in art, thought, technology and more. The workshops will being in July 2013 and span through to March 2014.

April 2013: E-Motional Festival at MNAC, Bucharest
Gemma travels to Bucharest in April to participate in the last of three residencies within the European mobility initiative E-Motional Bodies and Cities. The project culminates in a festival which brings together all the strands and activities within the last two years of the project.
